FORC and Living Lands & Waters are teaming up to eradicate invasive Honeysuckle plants from Illiniwek. The goal is to create better habitat for native plants to thrive which improves the health and aesthetics of the park. It's amazing what removing this plant does to open up views through the forest as is evident along the Overlook trail on the North Loop. LL&W will provide lunch for volunteers, be handing out custom LL&W bandannas, and blasting tunes from their party bus as we work.
Dress appropriately: long sleeves, pants, and sturdy shoes (no sandals) are a must. Tools, gloves, protective eye wear, and water will be provided. Meet at the trailhead a little before 9:00, we'll work until 11:00, and have lunch after that.
Bring your bikes and riding gear along in case you fancy a ride afterwards. The timeline is still hazy but we think the ride will start between 12:30 and 1:00.
