    Default Berm Project Work: Sat. (4/11) & Sun. (4/12) @ 9:30 am

Planning on working again this weekend (4/11-4/12) on the berm projects. Meet at 9:30 am in the upper south side parking lot near the salt dome. Right now, I plan to be out both days but this will depend on how much we get done Saturday.

    To Do List (Required Tools):

    • Bench ~150' of new trail and build a few retaining walls (rogue hoes, flat shovels, post hole digger, wheelbarrow)
    • Attach decking to elevated berm. (impact drivers, I have plenty of T25 bits)
    • Rehab old trail (rogue hoes)
    • Blow leaves off of trails to promote faster drying after rain (leaf blowers and fuel)
    • General trail trimming/maintenance (hand lopper, pruning saw, rogue hoe)
    • Extracting leftover wood pile. (wheelbarrow, strong back, and I'll have the trail cart)
    • Haul in gravel for drainage features. (wheelbarrow, shovel)

I'll be bringing: chainsaw & PPE, trail cart, 5 rogue hoes, 3 flat shovels, backpack leaf blower & extra fuel.

Post up if you plan on coming so I can get an idea of which projects we can finish.

We may also be out during the week to do a few things. I'll be posting the weeknight announcements through the IFP Trailwork mailing list. Click here to find out how to subscribe to the list.

John and the Browns took care of the leaf blowing this week. Doesn't look like we are going to be out in the evenings this week but next week that may be the case. All effort has been going into bending planks for the large structure. A string of boiler failures has set us back a bit (she's old, tired, and leaky) but I should have the replacement up and running today.

Dave W. volunteered his trailer. We're going to load the decking in the trailer on Fri. evening and take it over Sat. morning. The bent planks will be awkward to load into a truck because they don't stack well.

Russ and I are going to be working at my house bending and cutting planks in the afternoon if you want to stop by (text/pm me for the address). We will be loading the trailer around 5:00 pm but that won't take more than 15 mins. We are good on clamps a the moment.

Still planning on working for a couple of hours Sunday morning (starting @ 9:30). There was a great turnout Sat. and we finished most of what needed to be done for dirtwork. There are still a couple of areas that could use some attention and we can start doing rehab work on the old trail. There will also be a few more planks to screw down. Don't need a huge crew; 6-8 people should be plenty.
