We are going to be hitting it hard this week to tie up a lot of loose ends needed to get the reroute ready for opening. There are also some maintenance tasks that need to be done to get the trails ready for the season opening and the Abermination.
Weeknights
A few of us will be out Tues. 3/31 from 4:00-6:00pm and Wed. 4/1 from 5:00-7:30 working on the mid joists. We are meeting in the upper south lot by the salt dome.
Weekend - Sat. 4/4 & Sun. 4/5
On the weekend we'll meet in the upper south loop parking lot again at 9:30 am.
Here is the short list of tasks for this week/weekend:
Reroute/Berm Project
- Finish the approaches to all structures (dirtwork).
- Bench trail leading to first feature.
- Complete laminating mid joists on all structures. (very messy, wear old clothes and gloves)
- Install boardwalk decking.
- Haul out extra lumber from the on-site pile to make room for new trail.
Maintenance
- Leaf blowing trails to promote drying and clear drains. I'll have a backpack leaf blower and fuel available.
- Clearing downed trees/branches throughout the trail system and trimming back face slappers. (chainsaw, chaps, and helmet required)
Tools
We will again need more bar, pipe, and C clamps with a screw tightening mechanism and at least a 6" jaw opening. The grip squeeze style clamps don't have enough force to pull the joints together and we have plenty of them already.
A couple extra impact drivers will be helpful since there will be multiple projects requiring them. I have plenty of T25 bits.
Shovels and rogue hoes will be available for the dirt work.
Post up if you plan on coming out.
