    Default Dorrance - Sat. (11/12) & Sun. (11/13)

This weeks Dorrance trail work plan:

Saturday 11/12 @ 9:00am - Benching Trail & Excavating for Bridge Foundation Forms
Sunday 11/13 @ 9:00am - Excavating for Bridge Foundation Forms & Maybe Pouring Concrete

Digging shovels and post hole diggers will be the most useful tools. I'll have a few extra shovels and rogue hoes available. We need to dig four +30" diameter holes down to ~4 feet deep. We will also need a few more heavy duty wheelbarrows to haul in bags of concrete if we pour on Sunday (I only have one barrow). Pouring will largely depend on the weather and I'll post up Sat. evening to confirm it's a go.

We're meeting in the central parking lot (by the bathrooms) at the time listed above and working for a couple of hours. Get directions to the park here. See the map below for how to get to the work area if you can't make it that early.

The goal for the next couple of weeks is to install the foundations for a 32' bridge we will be constructing over the next few months. This will involve digging holes to place footing forms, building the forms, and eventually pouring ~3000lbs of concrete.

Please RSVP if you plan on coming.

Keep an eye on this topic for weather related changes. If it is raining, we will have to postpone.

Never built trail before? Click here for a quick rundown of what to expect and how to prepare. Also, bring a headlight; it's getting dark in the woods now around 6:30pm.

I'll plan to be there for sure on Saturday. I can bring a regular digging shovel. As far as post hole diggers go....should be consider renting something like this?

Whipped up a few renderings if anyone is wondering what the planned bridge will look like.

We'll be out again Sunday pouring the second set of footings. Lots of help today put us ahead of schedule. There are still a dozen bags of concrete to move to the work site so bring wheelbarrows again. A few images from today's hole diggin' session.

Finished the footings today. Next step is building the beams. Main span will be 33'.
