JB and I started clearing the new south end trail last week that should bump the system up to nearly a 5 mile loop and we are hoping to have it it ridable by the fest in June. We need your help over the next few months to make that possible.
This Thursday (4/21/11) at 5:30 we will be meeting near the maintenance buildings in the upper field of the park to continue cutting out deadfall and clearing the trail corridor in preparation for dirt work. This is the perfect time of year for trail work because of the cooler temps, limited undergrowth, and lack of bugs.
Tools that will be required are: loppers, pruning saws, chainsaws, rouge hoes, and a few rakes. Check your tools for sharpness because it makes working with them much much easier.
More detailed directions: From IL-84 go up Hubbard Rd. (on the north side of Hampton) 0.6 miles and turn left into the county maintenance building entrance, then bear left onto the gravel path.
If it happens to be raining at the specified time, I will post up with a new date.
