    Talking women racers

I'm not trying to stir things up, but last night I was looking over the race times from the Jubilee race last weekend. I got passed by three ladies (no shame in that) so I was looking at their times. Very impressive to say the least. Robin, who placed first, had very close lap times with fourth place mens sport. That means if she didn't have to pass 25 guys, give or take, she would have had a good shot at placing in the top 3. That brings me to my point. Should the women really be starting 2 minutes behind?

You'd understand if you know what I was talking about.

I got no horse in this race, but until there are enough to split the class to sport and expert, it seems a choice between 5 women having to pass 100 guys or 75 guys having to pass 15 women. Some of these women definately are fast enough that having them start behind all the slow doods like me is a shame.

On the other hand, using the stampede as an example, how would the other 25 woman have enjoyed the race when there were 100 guys trying to pass them on the 1st lap? Talk about a no win situation. No easy answer here unless the womens class is big enough to split. (It was big enough to split at the stampede but even the psychic friends network didn't see that comin so the officials did the best they could at the time.)

Definately an issue that needs to be looked at. We keep getting all these cool MTB ladies comin to the events so I'm sure the race directors are taking notice!

And I know this is sexist- but is there anything hotter than a chick that's fast on the single track? Besides Gunchie and slim, I mean. BWAHAHAHA!

Believe in yourself? Well sure, of course. But be aware that "believing in myself" has been the root cause of most of my injuries.

I thought they always strarted the men first to keep it a good race because nothing is worse than going to work monday and having all the guys hear you were beat by a girl

    See, they're awesome!

I'm working on that. So are the other guys that get smoked.

At the Sylvan race, they were going to start with the novice men, but someone wanted a 2 min delay forcing all the women to have one.

For men and women alike, if you know about where you're going to finish, you should try to place yourself there at the start. Then we wouldn't be having this conversation.

Hey, I'm having a great time either way.

Damn right! I'm a sexy b!tch and don't you forget it! Anyway, more then once have I had a chick on a singlespeed destroy me. There are some seriously hardcore chicks tearing it up on the singletrack. I say if a woman wants to beat up on the boys, let her. Sure, not every woman would want to start with the guys, but it should be the woman's choice to decide, not there gender.
