Its that time of year again, the trails are starting look a bit shaggy. We are going to start trimming the trails at Sunderbruch this Sunday. Its a hard job, but to thank the volunteers that put the sweat equity into our trails we are going to be running a promotion. The trails have been divided into 15 segments, if a volunteer clears a segment they will be rewarded with a free crowler* from Crawford Brew Works. Can't make the trail day? No problem, you can go out any time to trim a section while we are running the promotion. We will be keeping the segment status updated on the FORC web page (qcoforc.org) so volunteers will know what still needs to be done.

The club has a small arsenal of string trimmers, if you plan to come please let us know so we can reserve on for you. Volunteers are also welcome to bring their own but we recommend a heavy duty straight shaft trimmer, most of the home owner bent shaft versions don't quite have the power it takes to clear the heavy vegetation out there. If you can't make the trail day but want to volunteer and need a tool, let us know and we'll get you set up.

Gear
-Long pants/shirt
-Closed toe shoes (recommend boots)
-PPE Safety glasses/ear plugs (we will have some on hand as well)
-Bug spray
-Water

Trimming guide
-Clear 2.5-3' past the edge of the trail on the ground on each side of the trail
-Once the ground is clear sweep up from the edge to get the creepers and vines that encroach on the trail
-It seems like a lot but after years of doing this we have found this is what it takes
-Each segment will probably take one persone 2-3 hours to clear depending on their pace

*If you don't drink and would prefer another option talk to us and we'll work something out

Be sure to tell the good folks at Crawford Brew Works you appreciate their support!

Cheers!
