The 2021 Taming of the Slough is just a few weeks away and we're helping River Action with the course on Sylvan Island again this year. We're looking for volunteers to help with course marshalling and set up/tear down for the MTB leg of the race.
Taming course arrows have been painted in pink this year for those wanting to ride the course before the event (we suggest you do!). We're running the same course as last year (see map below). Racers will need to complete two laps of the course for the event. Racers in the Endurance class may be doing more laps. The remaining Taming Tune Ups are on Thurs 9/2 & 9/9 from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.
We will be doing our weekly group ride at the Tune Up on Thursday 9/9 @ 5:30pm which would be a great opportunity to get to know the course or ask questions about trail riding.
Taming of the Slough - Sunday September 12th
- Course Setup (7:00-8:00am) Will need a few people to tape the course and set up stakes/cones along the island entrance.
- Course Marshals (8:00-11:00am) around 10 people [bring bug spray, water, and a chair]. Meet at the tent right after crossing the bridge for location assignments.
- Course Teardown (11:00-11:30am) Need a few people to stick around to pull down tape, clean up trash, take down popups, cones, etc.
Post Up if you can help and we'll put you on the list. Volunteers also need to sign up as a River Action volunteer (select the "bike course marshal" checkbox). Volunteers will get a meal voucher and beer, served at Bass Street Landing, after the event!
