This Sunday morning @ 8:30am.
Must be a FORC member in good standing (read: PAID member). If you're not in good standing but wish to help, come on out. We'll have membership forms on hand.
The SBP Trail Care Crew is revving up for the fall trail work season.
Project #1 is reworking the 2nd log skinny/crossing on Blue Mound. The current log is rotting rapidly and quickly becoming more dangerous with each set of tires that cross it.
We need your help in removing this log--it is HEAVY--and help transporting ROCK down into the ravine! Yep, more rock on Blue Mound!
The idea behind this rock crossing will be to aid in drainage through the ravine, allow the rider to keep momentum through the ravine to get up the subsequent climb a bit easier, all while improving the overall sustainability of the trail itself.
The crossing will be built similar to the 2nd rock garden located on the Blue Mound trail--think smooth and not nearly as rough as the quick rock dip and 1st rock garden. Built correctly, this feature will last beyond our years.
We'll need to transport a bunch of rock from the paved path at the end of the first treeline down to the work location. Wheelbarrows and 1 or 2 trucks should get us what we need.
Hoping for a turnout of ~10 or so peeps. Rock work, while fun, takes a toll on the body.
See ya there!
