Default IFP Work Day: Sunday Nov. 10th @ 9am

It is a busy week at Illiniwek for trail work. On Sunday, we will be working on rerouting and rehabbing a section of trail which crosses a low spot that holds water after heavy rainfall and during the spring thaw. We will also be adding a few log over trail features along the newly constructed trail on alternate lines.

    Work Area

    Reroute and Features Overview

Plan on meeting at 9am in the lower parking lot and working until around 12-1 pm.

We will need three crews to tackle the various aspects of the project:

    New Trail Construction
    - Tools Needed: rogue hoes & flat shovels

    Rehab Old Trail
    - Tools Needed: rogue hoes, flat shovels, 5 gal bucket/container to carry leaves/debris

    Technical Features
    - Tools Needed: cordless screwdriver/impact driver (if someone has one please bring it)

I have 3 rogue hoes and 4 flat shovels I will be bringing that will be available if you don't have your own tools.

Please post if you can make it.

I'll be there sunday for sure, I'm going to try and make it thursday and friday too, but not sure I can make it there by 4, maybe closer to 5 due to work. Hopefully its not too dark by then, I'll bring my truck in case we need it for something too.

Great, just remember NOT to take your meds before you come out! I bought #2 square drive screws so if you have the matching bits bring them also.

I think my cordless drill battery is toast. I'll see if it'll take a charge. Never the less, I'll be there with a shovel!

Alright, I think we are good for screwdrivers. I am still in the process of tracking down the planks for the log overs. May have to cut some from what is available in the woods.

Shane, we should have plenty of tools if you can't find a shovel.

Drew whay not use the planks on the trail we are rerouting? They still seem to be in good shape and might be long enough for what your planning to do.

If the are in good condition they will be used, but I think they are starting to rot underneath. We are going to need six 4-6' long planks for all the features so we will still be short 2-4 planks.

Are there some planks at Sunderbruch from the skills features we used at the fest that would work?

There are a lot of random sized boards at SBP in the field above where we did the Jubilee features. I would think there has to be something there that would work for your project.

I am actually headed to SBP Sat. morning to check that pile and the storage shed for usable boards. Can someone meet me there who has a bollard key? Probably be there around 8:00-8:30.

Edit: I have already made arrangements to open the SBP bollard.

There is some random wood laying around at the entrance to Kickapoo up. I don't know if it there for a reason but if not it may help.

    Sunday trail gnomes.

Armoring on the eastern north loop descent.

Finished product from earlier in the week. North loop creekside trail.

Armoring already doing its job. Ride it don't slide it!
