Experiencing the world through second hand information isn’t enough. If we want authenticity we have to initiate it. We will never know our full potential unless we push ourselves to find it.

Ya that was a mixup. I was out there this morning, still pretty soggy. Talking to the rangers this morning, hopeing to open it tomorrow.

Hold tight kids, it won't be long.

All you can do is keep checking the Conservation website, http://www.scottcountyiowa.com/conservation/ it is completely up to the Rangers when they open it. AG maybe able to shed more light on it but from my understanding the trails have to be ready for the horse traffic as they view them as one and won't allow bikes out there and not horses.

Crystal ball is pretty cloudy. Was there on Saturday, things were pretty soggy. Judging by the forecast, dout it will open this week.
    Thanks Westy.

ah ok thnx guys. Just really itching to get out there lol. BUt delay on trails drying out is fine cause gotta wait a week to get new rear wheel/hub anyways. Bm'ed the site you linked so i can check that cause I didnt realize it was purely up to the rangers, thought it was like the rest of our trails.

BTW AG, if you need help out there (figure we still maintain them) LMK, thats the easiest trailset for me to get time to help with being its the closest to me. Found illiniwek isnt much further so going to try and make time to help out there too.

I'm coming up from STL for Memorial Day weekend. I've only ridden Sylvan island wayyyyy back in the day. What is the best trail to ride in the area now?

I called today thinking a ride at ol' Sco Co Pa would be delightful tonight. Trails still too wet from recent rain to ride. Saving you a phone call...
    I wanna ride!

I'm starting to wonder if they consider hero dirt too wet... :-/

Hero dirt may mean that the horse trails are too wet still. Sucks, but thems the rules.

Caution: keep an eye out for accelerated erosion on Cannon from horse traffic as well as the strategically placed "trail apple".

AG, adding to Don's comment, there are also hoof marks on the little loop (the newer loop reroute put in roughly two years ago) off Parkview before it goes down the hill.
