    Default Trail Day - Sunday 06/09/13 @ 9am

Official FORC Trail Day at Sunderbruch this Sunday, June 9th at 9am.

    What we'll be doing:

weed whacking, loppering, tree sawing, deberming/outsloping, drain clearing and any other miscellaneous maintenance items that are begging for attention.

we'll need the big saws to show up for the huge tree that's about to fall on the LT exit (....Schnaff, Neips, Struck....)

There may be some other projects the Trail Care Crew has going that will need some help as well.

Bring: pants or long socks, long sleeves help keep the ivy off when you're whacking weeds, water, nutrition, flat shovels, rogue hoes if you got 'em, loppers, string trimmers if you have one that you want to use (FORC will reimburse for string)

Meet in the parking lot at 8:45 so we can get started by 9 - we'll work for a few hours, no longer than noon (officially, anyway).

Remember, you must be a FORC member to participate in the trail day.

    See you there.

My answer is D. I work a 24hour shift starting at 1900 Friday, if I'm able to get some "sleep on the job" I'll be there, with beer.

Me and poison ivy have a special relationship going on right now, I think I'll wear a speedo to weed whack Sunday.

Count me in for probably. Camping this weekend but will try to be back in time. I will bring the tools I have (2 x string trimmers, 4 x flat shovels, 3 x rogue hoes).

I can lead a crew to tackle drainage improvements and trail repair. If it isn't already done, I can finish work on the mud hole near the Eastern Sugar Bottom and Farmdale intersection. Is that large section of corrugated pipe near the leftover wood from the Jubilee extension destined for another project? If not, I can put it to use in the before mentioned spot.

Pipe is available. Lets use it. That spot is nasty.

I'll likely be working in this area as well.

There is a huge amount of outsloping that is needed throughout the entire trail system. If you are available, please come out and give us a few hours of work this Sunday. Deberming the trails will speed up the drying time of the trails significantly, and will increase the amount of time you can actually ride them. If you don't know how to properly outslope a trail, no worries, we will gladly teach you how to do it correctly. Bring your sharp flat shovels and let's get a bunch of work done. Thanks and see you Sunday morning!

    80% chance of rain tomorrow.

Keep an eye on this thread ... may have to postpone the trail day.

I'll be there unless it's pouring. I'll melt.
ANYTHING can be fixed...how badly do you want it?

    WOW!

Thanks everyone that came out to brave the gnats and impending rain.

We got a ton of tough work done today and we were able to actually open the trails...then the rain came, and we had to close them again. :-/

Here's to hoping things start to dry out a little bit!

Good work and thanks to everyone who went out. Wish I could have been there.
Experiencing the world through second hand information isn’t enough. If we want authenticity we have to initiate it. We will never know our full potential unless we push ourselves to find it.
