my first thing would be to call seller. tell about problem, see how THEY wanna fix the issue first. if that doesn't get satisfactory results then look at other options. if they will replace it, go that way first.? i know it means more time but find it unlikely that they will just replace the lever.
as for just replacing the lever, anything is possible, just depends on your knowledge and tool availibility. pins can usually be drilled out and replaced with a bolt of some sort. won't be or look factory but it will fix the problem.
maybe the LBS mechanics can chime in and help a bit here........give ideas or remedies they have used or "engineered".
