Dorrance Trail Trimming Wed. 6/9 @ 6pm.
Planning to do some trimming at Dorrance this Wednesday. Meet in the parking lot at 6:00 pm by the bathrooms. Bug spray and head nets recommended for this time of year. Bring plenty of water, looks like it will be hot.
We've already trimmed the last half of the Blue Loop and the Green Loop from the big bridge until the first switchback before the climb. The rest is untouched and looking pretty wild.
I'll have a couple of the FORC battery trimmers with me to loan out. String trimmers don't work great on parts of Dorrance because of the nettles which are stringy and wrap around the trimmer head causing binding. However, if you have your own string trimmer, bring it and we'll send you to the non-nettle areas. Be aware there is Poison Ivy at Dorrance so wear the appropriate clothing if running a string trimmer.
If we have enough people, a group will split off and work on a few maintenance items towards the end of Unkle Rukus (Black Loop).
If you can't make this time, I can get you one of our trimmers to use for a day or so. Let me know and we can coordinate.
