Ladies "No Chick Left Behind" Ride - Wednesday, April 28, 6:00 PM Scott County Park
Our next NCLB ride will be Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at 6:00 PM at Scott County Park in Parkview, IA. Please try to arrive by 5:45 so that we can leave the parking lot by 6 PM. Spread the word to those ladies you think may be interested! We had 10 ladies at our last ride and I think everyone had an enjoyable time. Keep in mind that upon occasion, Sco Co Pa will be closed when other parks remain open... and rain is predicted for this weekend, so who knows whether the officials at the park will deem the trails dry enough by Wednesday (granted, they could uise some water... they were quite dusty last night). Our alternative location in the event that the Sco Co Pa trails are not open on Wednesday is Sunderbruch Park in Davenport. And, if we aren't able to ride anywhere on Wednesday, the rain date will be Thursday, April 29th.
The next next NCLB ride will be Thursday, May 6, 2010 6:00 PM.
For those new to the Ladies "No Chick Left Behind" rides, this is a weekly ride geared toward the novice female rider with the goal of helping women learn basic mtn biking skills and develop confidence in their riding without the pressure of riding with their male counterparts. We love ya, guys, but this one is for the ladies (but don't fear, we will be having our first Pink Sock ride of the year on May 12th with parking lot cookout afterward -- Pink Sock rides are co-ed No ONE left behind rides -- men are welcome). The NCLB rides are at a relaxed pace with stops at varying obstacles to put our new-found skills to work. All you need is a mtn bike, helmet and a desire to learn! The Pink Sock ride is a group ride where no one is left behind. Eventually, through the course of the evening, people will gain a feeling of how their fitness and riding skills compare with others in the group, and similarly-able riders will then ride together.

I may have to change the Pink Sock ride originally scheduled for Wednesday May 12th. Forgot that softball starts in May... and we play on Wednesday nights. I only committed to being a sub, but hard to sub if you have other things scheduled.
And, check this out -- Laurel is getting the word out about our NCLB rides:

I just called Scott County Park and the mtn bike trails remains closed due to being too wet. I asked whether the rangers would be checking conditions later today and explained about our scheduled women's ride there tonight. The woman I spoke with said she couldn't guarantee anything as far as even checking the trails and that the current status of the trails is that they are closed. Moving the NCLB ride for tonight to Sylvan Island in Moline because of its resilient soil and excellent drainage. 6:00 PM. Hope to see you there tonight! I plan to arrive closer to 4:45 and will ride beforehand at a faster pace, so if you don't see me in the parking lot at 5:45, don't worry. I'm there, just out riding. I'll be back to the lot by 5:50/5:55.
xoxo, Bex
I wanna ride!
