Levis Trow Mounds trip over Labor Day weekend?

Hi all. Time is ticking away. I can't believe August is almost here. Holy crap! As your official party / bike trip planner, we need to think about what we are going to do over the Labor Day weekend. We had talked over Winter about going to Levis Trow Mounds :

We can get special permission to camp at the trail head (and it is my understanding that they have a toilet and shower facility there). Costs would be fuel, camping, parking and trail pass fees, alcohol and food.

Great reviews about this place both online and from people I know who have ridden there. 20+ miles of singletrack.

Perhaps we add a trip to Blue on our way back home on Monday 9/7/09.

Seeking feedback. It is a holiday wekeend and Wisconsin parks fill up fast! Who knows, park camping may already be full. Does an away weekend sound good? Does Levis sound good? Should we consider somewhere else (we are also planning a trip to the Brown County Breakdown [Indiana] over the Columbus Day weekend October 9-12)? Post up. Let's get the party planned!

The facilities at the trailhead are nice. Camped there with a big group before and it was a great trip ... except for the friggin' rain! :)

A good trip - highly recommend going to Levis... have been there several times and would love to make this one. Unfortunately, heading back west for Labor Day weekend, so I'm out...

Just in case you want to save a trip to Levis for another weekend:
Gnomefest 6 is happening a couple weeks later at Levis. I was at the very first Gnomefest and can tell you it is quite a party. Go check it out unless mountain bikers, beer, camping, and random nudity offend you.

I recall wanting to go to gnome fest last year but had a schedule conflict. OK, so maybe we do day trips over Labor Day weekend... or we go elsewhere, then hit the gnome fest! Us, party? Whoa!

in spite of gnome fest, mp & I decided we are going up to levis-trow this weekend. we will get there sometime friday afternoon. ride drink eat, repeat on saturday and head home on sunday. we decided to go the luxury route and are staying at the best western in black river falls (15 min from trails, 5 min from bars). there is plenty of camping closer to the trails at lake arbutus though.
