Wanted: Entry-level mtn bike for someone 5' 11"

A friend of mine wants to get into mtn biking and is looking for an entry-level mtn bike. Anyone got something out there that they've been considering selling? My friend is 5' 11".

He said $300ish and I said he may have a tough time finding something. I did get a text from someone with a bike that may work. He did some riding when he lived up North but sold it when he relocated a couple years ago. I don't know his skill level to know how beginnerish of a bike he can get away with.

Exactly. That's what I thought when he said $300ish. People who don't bike don't understand though after we spoke he has a better idea. Granted, it doesn't change his budget.

If he isn't looking for anything real fancy a friend has a older large trek. Could probably get it in the hundred or cheaper range. I'll find out what it is for sure.
