WTB: $200-300 bike for newbie

My neighbor's 15yr old son is showing an interest in biking. I just saved him from getting a WalMart Special for his birthday by telling his dad that there are plenty of awesome used bikes out there for less than $300. Does anyone have a bike in their garage you're looking to sell?

I'd say size M would be good: 16 - 17.5" should work fine. Thanks a lot!

I have Pags' wife's old bike. It's a trek something. 3400 series maybe?? May work well. It's out on loan but I can get it back.

So disappointing. Sounds like he went ahead and decided to "fix up" a WalMart special that he "found." Guess that's one more kid who will hate biking for the rest of his life...
I'll try to talk some sense into him. Meanwhile, I did share this with some others that might be looking. Hopefully we can find a home for it soon! Thanks!!
