    Default Current Conditions

    Current Conditions:

Finished up an entire loop this morning.

Green loop is 65%-75% iced over--ride with caution. Fattie tires at a reasonably low pressure will have little problems but there are still a few spots that will put you on your a$$ in a hurry.

Blues and Blacks are perfect for any size tire. The best trails are LT, Rock Cut, Palos, Kettle, and Blue Mound due to lack of foot traffic.

A few of the bridges/skinnies crossing ravines are covered in ice so be careful. The berm bride is *this* close to being able to ride the berm--6'-8' of the berm at the exit is coated with snow so we decided not to chance it.

Overall, the system is in great shape to ride.

    Looking forward to more snow!

I rode there this afternoon just as the women's outdoor club was getting done with their hike/snowshoe excursion. I was wary of the ice but there is enough new snow now that it's not a problem. This snow seems to pack and grip better than the snow we had earlier this season.

Today's Conditions: Awesome at 9AM. By 10:30 there's already ice giving way to frozen mud. The backside of the trail will be messy by 2:00 maybe sooner. That being said, right now would be an EXCELLENT time to try out your studded tires - lots of ice. However, it is rideable w/o studs. There is a totally rad snow drift along the fenceline west of the open field. It's about 4' high and frozen on top so completely rideable. Too bad it's only about 20 yards long...

In short, if you do want to ride there, better hustle and when you get there, use good judgment. If you're leaving tracks, walk your bike. Cheers!
