Default 2014 Trans Iowa...yep...I'm thinking about it...are you?

My goal is to FINISH it. It's scheduled for April 26th-27th 2014. It's not for the weak of heart. Just checking to see if there might be any interest, I'd rather die trying with another rider than alone.

At this point, I would rather punch myself in the balls for 36 hours.

Trans Iowa is a walk in the park compared to this. Man up, Baller.

This is on my list of considerations for 2014, especially with no Stampede next year. The Tour Divide is the ultimate goal, several years in the future.

Also check out CIRREM if you like "fun". 100k gravel race in Des Moines in February. Limited number of spots so it fills up quick. It sounded like a good idea in October- luckily I just missed the field.

I did CIRREM in 2012, had a conflict this year so missed it. It was a hoot. Hard, awesome.

Best gravel race I've done was the Almonzo 100 in MN. It's a beautiful thing.

Dirty Kanza is on my radar, but not certain I'll do it.

Almonzo looks like a blast, for sure.

Ok...I've decided I'm really gonna do this. OFC I won't be trying to win it, I just wanna finish it. I've got a plan to start doing longer and longer gravel rides north of Bettendorf. I have a 40, 53 and 108mile route already in mapmyride. If you think your interested in doing this thing let me know and maybe we can do some rides together prior. If you don't know about this race it's deadly. Typically only 10-15% of the starters finish. Most are done by checkpoint 2. There is a documentary movie you can buy for $10.00, just google 300 miles of gravel and you'll find it. If your gonna do it you need to decide fast, I expect registration to open up in the next month or so and it's typically first come first serve.

My vote is for the ball punching, and I don't even have balls.
