Default Westbrook Trail Work Day: Sat. 7/20 @ 9am

Don't forget about the trail day this weekend at Westbrook Park in Dewitt, IA; Saturday July 20th at 9am.

We are going to be working on the green loop which will require primarily corridor clearing and a bit of dirt work.

    Types of tools to bring:
Clearing tools - loppers, rogue hoes, pruning saws, rakes
Dirt working tools - flat shovels & rogue hoes

If you don't have your own tools, we will have a selection of club tools available for you to use.

Also remember to bring water, pants, sturdy shoes, eye protection, bug repellent, and a snack.

Since Dewitt is a ways out for some of us lets try to organize carpooling. If you have a vehicle that can haul a bunch of people, post up if you are available and where/when people can meet you.

Count me in, I made sure I was off work during the day so I can get to these about every week. Have no tools though so just put one in my hands and tell me where to go.

Brad and will not be able to be there. So here is what I know. Trial has been flagged (Drew, Brad and I did that a while ago). Brad did some cutting back of the saplings and larger brush. There is a need for some chain saw work and a lot of DR work if someone can get it up there.
You'd understand if you know what I was talking about.

If anyone is unfamiliar with how to get to Westbrook Park here are some directions:

    US-61 N toward Eldridge/Dewitt
    Take exit 311B toward Dewitt
    Turn right onto 11th St.
Take the 2nd right onto Westbrook Dr.
Follow Westbrook Dr. to the parking lot to the South of the baseball diamonds.

I have room in my vehicle for one person. Send me a message if you are interested in a ride and live close to Hampton, IL.

Thanks again for the help everyone. We will be back out there soon. It sounded like having the Westbrook trail work days on Saturday is better for some people so we will probably stick to that for a while. Keep an eye on this forum for the next trail work day announcement.
