Registration Closing Monday, July 15th at 11:59pm!

CAMBr (Chicago Area Mountain Bikers) is excited to host yet another edition of the Meltdown in less than two weeks. Back for another year with all the great qualities of the past, plus numerous enhancements. This year we are not only a national AMBC race, but also USA Cycling's Midwest Regional Championships! Riders from 10 states will square off to become the Midwest Regional Champion of 2013.

We ask that if you plan to race this year, that you pre-register--this helps out
Register Nowour staff, speeds up your process, allows you to get a little packet swag and makes the race day experience go smoother. Also, all pre-reg riders will be automatically entered into a smaller private raffle for a couple sweet products from one of our main sponsors, SRAM! Tell your friends!

    Race Updates and Info:

    - This season we have a dedicated website for the race: palosmeltdown.com, look there, or follow our twitter for more updates as we get closer to the race. You'll also be able to see photos, videos and results after the race.

    - Official course map will be posted on or before July 18th, but it will be very close to the 2011 & 2012 courses. In the meantime, here is a map of 2011's course.

    - This year we've added a new class, called "First Timers". This is a great race for those who are VERY new to the sport and those kids that are too big for the juniors but not ready for the full 8 mile loop. This will be run on different course from the rest of the races.

    - The Kids Jump Castle will be back and better than ever!

    - Huge payouts for the Expert/Pro races. Well over $1,000 purse!

    - IMPORTANT: In 2012 we filled all available parking in the forest preserve. For 2013 we’ll be adding some additional spots and will have a bigger crew conducting parking assistance and flagging. There will also be free shuttle service for those without bikes from the offsite lot that we’ll use for overflow. PLEASE be aware that parking at our race will take longer than at others. Arrive extra early to ensure you have plenty of time to park before warming up for your race. Directions to the park entrance can be found on our site: palosmeltdown.com. Also, we will be running a drop off zone at the bottom of the Bull Frog Lake lot. This will allow cars to get closer to the race/expo area to drop off gear/people.

    - Camping for up to 100 people has been approved for 2013! Campers will need to register next week to reserve a spot. Racers must arrive before sunset on Saturday the 20th as we'll be locking in until sunrise. Please check PalosMeltdown.com for registration on the 16th.

    - Packet pickup will be held from 4-7pm (sharp) on Thursday (18th) & Friday (19th) at: 1515 West 22nd Street Oak Brook, Illinois 60523. Enter on the west side of the building, go to 8th floor. Packets will also be available for pickup day of.

    - This race is rain or shine. In the event of major rainfall we may have to modify the race course to protect trail tread.

    - We still need race volunteers, please sign up here.

    - Please share this email with your friends who may be racing the Meltdown!

I am planning on going up Saturday evening and camping overnight at the park. I will be doing photo stuff all day Sunday and not racing. Should have room in the car for another person, bike, and camping gear as long as you are OK with staying Sunday afternoon until the expert race has finished (4pm?). Buy in is $25 for dinojuice to get there.

Please follow this link to register for Meltdown Camping.
Camping is open to volunteers and out of town racers.
We are limited to 100 people.

    http://cambr.org/SMF/index.php?actio...eltdowncamping

We know many of our racers and volunteers travel significant distance to participate at the Meltdown.
In order to accommodate our racers and volunteers we have gotten a special permit to camp at the Meltdown site.
We have a permit for 100 campers.
    Camping is free.
Please understand this is a special permit issued to CAMBr.

    The rules are as follows

    1) We have contact numbers and names of all campers
    2) A CAMBr representative is onsite all night
    3) ALL Campers are in the preserve by sundown so that the gate can be closed and there is NO in/out after sun set
    4) There is NO night trail riding
    5) No in ground fires. CCFPD will provide the fire wood.
    6) No Glass bottles

Campers will be asked to park at the bottom of the Grass Hill (no exceptions). We need Pulaski parking to run the race. Not in the circle, that is the drop zone and you will be towed on Sunday.
