If you recall last year's Red, White and BOOM festivities, you didn't drink enough! LOL! Last year, we did a bit of pub-crawling on our bikes, dinner and drinks thanks to Fresh Cafe and Front Street Brewery, and watched the fireworks from the upper deck at Front Street FH. I also recall a midnight ride since it was such nice weather. This year, a few of us are doing a mini bicycling pub crawl and we plan to meet at the Rock Island Bent River at 6 PM. We will enjoy a drink at Bent, then will meander our way over the Arsenal bridge (hopefully NOT getting stopped by a barge this year) and make a quick stop at GRB before landing at our fireworks-viewing-destination: Front Street Freighthouse. Last year, we were allowed to use the top deck there, however it is not "reservable" this year and is available on a first-come-first-serve basis. If the deck is full, we can find a place to watch somewhere down there. The cool part about this year is that because of the flood, the fireworks are being deployed from the Centennial Bridge versus a barge in the river. Keep in mind that Centennial Bridge will be closed during the show, so if you plan on crossing the river, choose the Arsenal Bridge. Hope to see you on Wednesday for some or all of the fun (weather permitting)!
