Default Seven Oaks 3,6,9 MTB party...wanna go?

I know this is short notice but I'm itching to do something, it's about a 3 hr drive. I work a 24hour shift Fri to Sat from 0700-0700 so if I go I plan to do the 3hr ride which means we'd have to leave by 11am at the latest. Is anyone interested? LMK!!!

We're a week out from the race folks and things are looking great. A
productive work day and a positive weather forecast has the course near
perfect. No flooding here! Just miles of smiles. It's gonna be a great day
of racing. Please allow me to regurgitate the race info.

The race will be staged from the top of the ski hill this year. A water

Gunchie...I'm trying to find someone who will go with (drive my truck) to make the 6hr race, I'm 99% sure I'm doing the 3hr race reguardless so I could get you back to the Airport Sat night on my way back if that helps.

If someone will agree to drive my truck we'll make the 6hr race and could pick you up as well in route....lmk

...may just spend the night Sat..I have an 8 man Condo tent.

If I didn't have to run the shop on my own Saturday, I would totally be in... but this is like the worst week of the year for me. I have a well expired license now, too. I should go get that renewed.

80% chance of rain on Saturday night.... no bueno. Probably best I sit this one out and continue with the training block I have before trying to kill myself:
    June 29th - 40 in the Fort
    July 4th - Firecraker 50
    July 14th - Breckenridge 100

The Breckenridge 68 was painful enough (most painful race I've done around that distance). I may cry a little during the 100. I may try to do the South Kettle Classic on July 20th though.

Ok folks...this will be my last plea, right now I'm leaving Davenport no later than 1130 Sat morning in order to make the 3hr race. If you wanna go let me know. If you wanna go and would like to do the 6 hour race then I'd need you to drive my truck so I can get some sleep. If we leave for the 6hr race we'll need to leave no later than 0830. That is all. Below is another message I got on the race.

Seven Oaks is gonna be ripping fast for the MTB party this weekend.
Guaranteed! Our sponsors have all chipped in with some great swag. In no
particular order: Salsa, Twin Six, Oakley, Bikeworld, Rasmussen's, Scheels,
Kyles bikes, Chirs Almanzo Skogen All deserve our thanks for supporting the
race. Sakari sushi lounge has kicked in the food. Our man from Recycled
Artwerks has provided the kick ass grill. Rons house of home brew will be
serving the beer. Prizes, food, beer and killer singletrack!. How can
you go wrong? Racing starts at 10 and ends at 7. Don't miss out.

Well.....I survived. I decided to do the 6 hour and I'm glad I did because by 4pm the trail was a complete mess.

Lap 1 was greasy but ride-able. I completed it somewhere around 50 mins.

    (Rain starts)

Lap 2 was tricky, this trail system is amazing when dry with the multiple up and downs, it's almost impossible to not walk some when dry so my 2nd lap was a bit slower at about 70mins. I then took a 15 minute break to refill on water and carbs. At that I had decided I could get at least 1 more, maybe 2 more laps in.

Lap 3 was a disaster. It became more about surviving then riding. By now the rain was a down pour. After a mile or so it was apparent that this lap was gonna suck. I was able to ride maybe 50% of the trail, the uphills were impossible and the downhills were to slick to even attempt. I ended up finishing lap 2 in about 100 minutes.

I was one of the last to complete at lap at around 6pm, as I crossed the line I was immediately handed a hotdog and some home brew.

We all huddled up under a few tents telling story's on the trail, drinking FREE home brewed beer and trying to stay warm. All and all a great event. My bike is a complete mess and I'm wore out but I'll be going back next year, I just hope it don't rain on race day.
