    Default Sugar Scramble August 26

    Reminder to everyone that the Sugar Bottom Scramble is coming up on Sunday,
    August 26th.

    Details regarding the schedule, routes, etc. can be found either at ICORR's
    website:
    http://www.icorrmtb.org
    or at the race website:
    http://www.sugarbottomscramble.com

    This is a USAC-sanctioned event, but you do NOT need to purchase a USAC
    license to race - unless you're going to race the Cat 1/Expert (those
    riders do need an annual USAC license to race).

    Online registration is available at:
    https://www.usacycling.org/register/2012-3273

    The first 50 riders to register online get a FREE t-shirt!
    If you're one of these lucky riders, you don't have to select the t-shirt
    when registering - you'll already be getting one. Unless you want to
    purchase one for your spouse, your kids, your friends, your neighbors, your
    neices, your nephews, etc. All the cool cats are wearing them you know. :)

    Race day registration is also available.

    We're also using a modified course this year. Thanks to the great efforts
    of ICORR, there have been some new cuts made in the existing trails, and
    we're excited to use some of these this year. So come on out, have some
    fun, and enjoy a day out on the trails!

    So the Sport Race says 2 laps. Is that one partial and one full? Or one partial and 2 fulls?

    I believe there was some issue with USAC software not liking partial laps which makes it kind of confusing. The Cat3/Novice lap will not have all of techncial trails the other races will have. Sport through Expert will all be on the same route. The past few rains we've had and a weekend of trimming have put the trails in prime shape. Lotta new stuff out there.

    Novice = 7.94 miles (1 lap)
    Sport = 12.5 miles (1-1/2 lap)
    Comp/SS = 20.2 miles (2-1/2 lap)
    Expert = 27.9 miles (3-1/2 lap)

    Not sure how one could miss an offer of free beer but just in case I'll throw it out one more time. campsite 27 after the sport race. Beer and food on me.

    Thanks Rage. Kinda felt like a noob asking. I can lead someone on Bennett Gap, but have never been to Sugarbottom.

    Weather Prediction:

    ... well, who knows. Right now it looks like a good chance of rain starting after midnight tonight, finishing up around 8am tomorrow. We feel the trails can probably handle up to a half inch of rain and still be able to have a good race. We'll post early in the morning what the status is - we'll either start as planned, delay a couple of hours, postpone to a later date, or cancel altogether. We do not have a rain date planned at this time.

    This rain this morning has just picked up to the point that we have to pull the plug. Super bummer. We'll try to come up with a reschedule date in the next few days.
