Default Mountain Bike for Son or Daughter

I need to buy at least one bike this summer.

May make it belong to one or may have them share it if color and size appropriate.

    Daughter is 15 and 5'8" Son 13 and 5'6".

I suppose I am looking for a 26" hard tail. $200-$300 Open to the idea of building something if someone has a frame and fork available.

Just want something that they will enjoy rather than something they get frustrated with because it weighs to much or does not function right.

I have my Jamis, which is mostly complete. I think we could work out a deal that you can get the rest of the parts and still be within your budget.

And at that size you could ride it too! Stand over height is 779.3 mm or 30.68 inches.
