Default Wednesday evening FORC group ride schedule

People have been asking each week about Wednesday evening group rides. This is the official schedule for the summer (we will be updating the FORC calendar shortly). Keep in mind, after a ride, it's always nice to enjoy a post-ride refreshment and maybe even grill out. So, those who have portable grills, perhaps throw it in the vehicle along with a brat or burger in the cooler for afterward. Ya need dinner, and you might as well enjoy it with us! The camaraderie amongst FORCers is nearly as awesome as the riding with FORCers! The official ride time has always been 5:30 PM, but we didn't have Sco Co Pa or Illiniwek then which are further away from the central metro area. Bumping the start time at Sco Co Pa and Illiniwek to 5:45. Sunderbruch will be 5:30.

Skipping Wed 8/3/11 since we had a group ride last night for our FORC mtng. Also skipping Sylvan Island during the summer since poison ivy is in its full glory then. Sylvan gets added in for the Fall.

8/10/11 Scott County "Sco Co Pa"
8/17/11 Illiniwek (THIS WILL BE A HFDB TIME TRIAL)
    8/24/11 Sunderbruch
    8/31/11 Sco Co Pa
    9/7/11 Illiniwek
    9/14/11 Sunderbruch
    9/21/11 Sco Co Pa
    9/28/11 Illiniwek
    10/5/11 Sunderbruch
    10/12/11 Sco Co Pa
10/19/11 Sylvan (Bexter's birthday, so it will be a birthday ride)
    10/26/11 Illiniwek
    11/2/11 Sunderbruch
Day Light savings time switches Nov. 6th (fall back one hour)
    11/9/11 Sylvan
    11/16/11 Sco Co Pa

    Bump.

And, no birthday ride on 10/19/11 for the Bexter. I'll be out of town. DO keep in mind that it's also FORCMeister's birthday on 10/19. Maybe he wants a birthday ride with post-ride beverages to follow.

Tomorrow night (9/21), the group ride is at Sco Co Pa. Weather should be decent. I'm not able to make this ride. Post up if you can make it.

Think it's fair to say after the torrential downpour we just got that our group ride at Sco Co Pa for tonight is off.

Perhaps we should all redirect to Sylvan?

Why can't all the trails just go downhill?

last week was a wash out. This week may be too. If the rain holds off, I'll be there with lights. Anyone else?

Newbies- this is your chance to ride the island and see how it flows. Don't be shy. All you need is a light jacket for the cold weather.

just like around here, they use green/blue/black to indicate difficulty. they have a novice loop which is quite short and flat, and very fast. i have not ridden any of the black trails there yet so i cant comment on those. the blue trails are fun and have some moderate climbing. the 201 trail is my favorite. it has plenty of pine trees and their roots are exposed so you have to negotiate your way over or around them while going down hill and up.

i would say they are not harder or easier than what we have around here. just different

These are probably most similar to what we have at Scott County Park. Lots of pine areas and some open areas. Some say they are SS freindly, but i like gears.
