Hit Sylvan this afternoon since I was in town w/ my brother-in-law (great conditions). Saw on the main page that Sunderbruch and SCP are still "closed". Thought about hitting Illiniwek tomorrow - is it open??

    Thanks!

At this point in the year, the top layer of ground is going through freeze/thaw cycles which makes some areas of trail muddy when they warm up. The trails don't really dry out because of the low temps. If the soil stays frozen they are fine to ride (usually in the morning). Once the sun starts to melt the frozen trail, they should be avoided.

Thanks! We went out there about 10:30ish for about an hour. Had a hard time finding our way around w/out a map or signs - but that's sometimes a good thing ;) Trails were in pretty good condition - lots of leaves and didn't encounter any mud until we were getting ready to leave and then only in 2 small places on top where the sun was poking through the trees on the trail.

Was a blast - will have to come back again when I'm in town and have some more time (still need to ride Sunderbruch & Scott County Park someday too).
