    Default 2010 Halloween Parade Info

    I received this email today,

We are pleased to have you participate in the 2010 Halloween Parade, on Sunday, October 31, at
7 P.M. The theme is “Trick or Treating with the Stars”. It’s your choice to decide which stars; those in the
    sky or otherwise.

Attached is a map of the parade route and the staging area to line up for the parade. We will be
sending you your specific line up location within a few days.

In the interim, we encourage you to dress up in costume; decorate your float or vehicle/s; and
purchase candy if you plan on handing any out.
You'd understand if you know what I was talking about.

    I received our Parade info:
Line up location has changed from prior years. We line up at 3rd and Iowa St. Yes a block away from Great River Brewery. I'm planning on using my van in the parade so keep an eye out for it. Line up starts at 5:30 and it steps for at 7:00. If anyone asks where are you going? Tell them you are with Friends of Off Road Cycling and we are #62.
Now the next question. Candy? Who has any ideas on where to get some? In the past we have gotten as much as we could.
You'd understand if you know what I was talking about.

I KNOW that these are not as 'fun' as candy, but here is an idea-

    stickers, reflectors, etc. all free
p.s. I have a Gumby costume, but Scot is rebelling against being Pokey

That's a pretty cool idea! The only thing I'd be worried about is the "throw candy here NOW, you owe me" mentality of the kids (and some adults) that frequent the parade...that may not go over real well!

If Scott is the pokey, can I be the poker?

    Oh that's just terrible...

Believe in yourself? Well sure, of course. But be aware that "believing in myself" has been the root cause of most of my injuries.

I don't need that suggestion...I thought it was an assumption!

Confirming details for the Davenport Halloween Parade this year... Sunday, October 31st. Parade starts at 7 PM. We are to start lining up at 5:30 PM. FORC is parade entry #62, and our line-up location is the corner of the North side of East 3rd Street and Iowa Street (fairly close to Great River Brewery... hmmmmm) in the curb lane. Get your costumes on, bring your bike, some candy for tossing, cash for Great River, and let's have fun. Weather forecast is phenomenal for this weekend!

    Default candy

is FORC buying any candy for the group or do we all just bring our own? FWIW, TPC has 360pc bags of frootie tootsies/tootsie rolls for $5.30 & 360pc buckets of doublebubble gum for $9.95. these are not the most exiciting candies in the world, but they will survive being tossed in the parade. I don't know about other store's candy prices. BTW, I bought a bag of green apple frooties--to match my Gumby costume. :-)
