Default 2014 FORC Time Trial Series

Do you like to ride mountain bikes? Do you like to go fast on your mountain bike? Do you think you have what it takes to beat the Quad Cities finest? Do you like to drink beer? If you said yes to any of these questions then you should come out and give it a go during the 2014 FORC Time Trial Series!

The plan is to hold 6 regular season races where points will be awarded & tallied throughout the series to determine the Regular Season Points Champion. After the regular season is complete, we will hold a Championship Race where the course will be longer than the regular season courses to determine the FORC Time Trial Champion. There will be small prizes for winning the championships, but main goal of this series is to get everybody together to have fun and ride bikes...so please don't take it TOO serious. Let me know if you have any questions!

In the past we have had male/female divisions but no other categories. Just you vs. the clock. Not sure if that is the plan this time.

We may split men & women like Drew mentioned, but that is it.

Is that just because there isn't enough people? I know some cat3 people (me) want to come but they don't want to race against the rest. :(

    Edit:

How long is the course in something like this I have a couple people interested, but we don't know what to expect.

The course will be somewhere in the ballpark of 3.5 to 4 miles...I expect winning times to be around 20 minutes. (Counter clockwise loop --> Kick Up, Jubilee, Sugar Bottom, Rock Cut, Kettle, Kick Down)

Please don't be discouraged by the lack of categories...you won't be the only Cat 3 rider out there (might even be in the majority) and this event is mostly for fun. This is a great opportunity to see how you match up with other riders in the area, regardless of skill level. Don't take it too serious, just come out and have a good time riding your bike with good people!

Course will be marked. Not quite as good as a regular race, but we will have either arrows or caution tape, or both.

This is the same course as the TT held in late 2012...times were around 24:00 at that event and it was 25 degrees. I doubt anyone will get a sub 20 minute time, but some of you might be close!

    Here's what to expect:
A good time, Possibly some beer drinking, definitely some fast dudes, definitely some slow dudes. We try to put fast guys first so slower guys don't get passed. It's you vs the clock.

The weather is looking questionable for the TT this evening. We will hold the event if the trails are open and thunderstorms are not moving into the area. If needed, the rain date will be next Thursday, May 15.

Keep an eye on the forum for an announcement...I'll try to make the call by 4pm.

We're going to go for it!

There is some weather in the area, so we still may need to postpone to next week but that will be a game time decision. If the storm is aiming directly for us when we are getting ready to start, we will wait it out at the pavilion so we don't get riders stranded in the woods. If the trails are still good to ride after it passes then we will send everyone out and then drink a couple beers...if not, we'll hang out, drink a few beers, and wait til next week.

PS- Badfish is reporting a time of 22:45 from a test run this afternoon. Consider it an officially unofficial time.

One in the books. That was fun! Best part was seeing some new faces around. Thanks for putting it on Vitt, Russ and crew and thanks to all who showed up and had a good time. I can't wait to do it again.

Definitely a good time! Some fast times were laid down. Thanks for putting it on.

I have a red bell helmet and red fingerless gloves that were left behind after the TT. Claim them if they are yours.

Glad everyone came out and HF'd & DB'd last night! The weather made it interesting and the slick trails claimed a few victims, but I think we can chalk this one up as a success. We even had 4 new members sign up!

Good times were had last night! Thanks to everyone that helped. Especially Vitt, Russ and Drew.
Experiencing the world through second hand information isn’t enough. If we want authenticity we have to initiate it. We will never know our full potential unless we push ourselves to find it.

Was anyone running a computer to measure the length of the course we did on 5/8 at SBP?
