    Default 4/22 ride

Calling in from St. Louis, I plan on riding at Scott County Tuesday night, If the trail is not open (long range weather looks ok for now) are there any gravel routes or alternate rides I can do? Don't want to sit in a hotel and be bored. Thanks

gravels north of town are a good place to ride
Experiencing the world through second hand information isn’t enough. If we want authenticity we have to initiate it. We will never know our full potential unless we push ourselves to find it.

How long will you be in town for? Personally I would skip Chubb and ride at Greensfelder Park (10 mins from Chubb) without much effort you can get a 12 mile loop at GF and the dirt is so fabulous.

Chubb has not been maintained and there are a lot of other users who now frequent the trail that take away from the experience...If you have a couple hours I would also suggest Lost Valley, If you have more time you can do a Bifecta or Trifecta which is a combination of Lost Valley-Matson Hill and Klondike Park, All these trails are connected by the Katy Trail ( reclaimed railbed) and its about 48 miles of riding.

Take a look at our local website and post up when you will be in, There is allways someone who is willing to lead our out of town friends on a ride....gorctrails.org and my email address is mowaterfowlhunter@yahoo.com David

I rode Matson Hill a few weeks ago and it was awesome! Never been to any of the other trails though, so they could be just as fun

The Forest City trails in St. James were pretty cool.

I've ridden Creve couer (sorry I enjoy the fast and flowy lol) and lost valley myself. Lost valley was amazing imo. Easy almost 10 miles (well not easy plenty of climbing but so worth it). Creve couer I hit every time im down now cause its closest to in laws and can get a nice need for speed fix.

For those coming up here to visit, if u got time hit sunderbruch, so much fun packed in so few miles.

Avoid Indian Camp Creek if you don't like stopping for equestrians every 5 minutes. That's an hour of my life I'll never get back.

ICCP does have a fiar amount of horse as does Greensfelder Park, GF is well worth the wait and for the most part the equestrians are friendly and get out of the way quickly.

I'm hoping to ride Illiniwek tomorrow, If the trail is closed my backup plan is to ride the Great River Trail to Savanna, Not ideal but I get some movement in my legs and free my mind. If you have any other suggestions please let me know,

We rode Chubb, Lost Valley and Castlewood last month (Greensfelder was too wet to ride thanks to recent rains). Chubb was delicious rockiness. Very fun! Go to the RR tracks entrance. Castlewood reminded me a bit of Sunder. Also very fun. Lost Valley was flowy, fast with rocks interspersed. We had some challenge finding the entrance to the singletrack at Lost Valley. It was probably 4 miles along a gravel road from where we parked. We likely parked in the wrong place. Have a great time down there!
    I wanna ride!
