Default 2015 FORC Races - Call for Volunteers

It's that time, folks...time to rally the troops and get things organized for our 2015 races! As most of you know, we need a small army of volunteers working behind the scenes to make sure everything runs smoothly and gets done. Post up in this thread if you are willing to volunteer on our race days, and what you would prefer to do.

    2015 Events:
Illiniwek Abermination - Sunday, April 19
FORC Side Thrill Ride (Sunderbruch) - Sunday, July 12

Some of the volunteer tasks include:

    Course Setup/Teardown
    - Course Setup: The evening before the race
    - Venue Setup: The morning of the race (5:00 am - 7:00 am)
    - Course Teardown: after the expert race (4:00 pm - ???)

    "The Tent":
    - Registration (7:00 am - 4:30 pm)
    - Swag (7:00 am - 4:30 pm)

    Parking Organizers
    - A few hours in the morning to get things rolling (7:00 am - ???).

    Course Marshals
    - Novice/Juniors (8:30 am - 10:30 am)
    - Sport (10:15 am - 12:30 pm)
    - Kids Race (12:30 pm - 1:00 pm)
    - Expert/Comp/Open (12:30 pm - 3:45 pm)

    All times are preliminary.

A few of us will be out Sat. morning tying up loose, trail related, ends for the race. There is a low hanging tree near the top of the overlook stairway that needs to be removed and, depending on how many planks we make in the next few days, installing more decking on the berm structures. Planning on starting around 8:00 am and meeting in the lower south lot by the sledding hill upper south lot by the salt dome.

Everyone - THANKS for Volunteering! As always FORC needs a ton of help to make this Sunday's race a success.

Check-in at the National Mountain Bike Patrol station in the Big Tent.

NOVICE MARSHALS - please check in at 8:15am:
Milky, Struck, Neips, BD, Ray Sorya (BM Specialists), The Browns, Ben C, SteveO H, others
Some of those marshalling novice are on the list to continue through sport & expert - THANK YOU!

SPORT MARSHALS -- those that raced Novice and others showing up, please check-in at 10:00am:
Tigris, Bill S, Sugar, Harris E, others
Some of you marshalling novice & sport are on the volunteer list to continue through Expert - THANK YOU!

Bring a chair and/or cooler of beverages, bug spray, sunblock, cowbell, music, etc

Here's a rundown how Marshalling works for first time Volunteers:
Marshals are important for racer safety; radioing in problems to Race Director or Bike Patrol; enforcing rules/no cheating; Marshals are not allowed to assist racers with flats/mechanical problems.
Arrive early to sign Volunteer waiver (insurance/lawyer crud); get a vest, map, radio, and more details about Marshalling.
It takes 10-20 minutes to walk or ride out to your Marshal station on the trails.
Park at Illiniwek lower parking lot off Hwy 84 (you might have to park across Hwy 84).
    Be sure to have fun!

    Thanks all, see you Sunday.

We may have neglected to mention this but we are starting course setup today at 3:00 pm. Meet in the north trailhead lot by the FORC trailer. Shouldn't take much more than an hour to finish.
