Default trade 2 by for 1 by

I have a two 10 on my XTC and I've been thinking about turning it to a 1x9. Does anyone have a one by they may be willing to trade?

So you need a 9 speed cassette? Make it 1x10!

What he said. It'll be much easier, and cheaper, for you to convert to 1x10. Simply drop the FD and shifter and you're pretty much there. Go a coupl'a steps further and install a chain guide, and whatever size chain ring you wanna push and you're done.

If you go to 1x9 you're gonna need a chain, cassette, 9-speed shifter, and a 9-speed RD.

I did damage to my shifter at Black Partridge. I have 9 spd cassette and chain already. I like the 9 over the 10 because it's thicker and the cassette has pins through it to keep it together better. I tend to have the cogs cut into the cassette body on the 10 spd. too much leg power.
