I was hoping to get some help and ideas from the group on a late 80's, very early 90's Bianchi Tangent my dad gave me. Still looking to get exact info. The bike is currently with Scott at B&B, but I'm hoping to get some ideas for referbing it. I want to be able to use the bike versus referbing it to have it sit there on display. The fact that it was my dad's and he did Ragbrai on it 3 times means alot and I think it would be fun to also complete Rabgrai next year on the same bike 20 years later. I was thinking of having it repainted by Clutch and would keep the Celeste color. Already having issues finding the correct decals so may just go with the basic Bianchi decals (not sure what color, black, white maybe....ideas welcome). Scott said everything on it in tems of the SunTour XC Comp are in good shape. nothing locked up, everything is smooth. Same with the SunTour XC Comp and XC Pro hubs. Rims are not matching so was thinking of having nice new matte black rims laced to the Suntour hubs. Of course since it will be down to fork and frame for painting would be repacking the bearings and a complete run-through along with new brake pads, cables, wrap. Any ideas on color scheme would be appreciate too. Celeste paint, black/white/celeste cable housing/wrap or tan cork type or leather wrap, probably celete Bianchi Seat from www.bianchiusa.com. I see a lot of celeste and white or celeste and black so just trying to think outside the box with color setup. Also, I would love to get help doing some of this work myself just for the learning factor if anyone has a sweet basement shop and is willing to help/teach. Thanks for the listening.

We will be working at Illiniwek Sunday morning starting at 8:00AM. The plan is to rehab a few areas of old trail on the North Loop. The primary work area is near the large retaining wall/switchback corner we built last fall. If we finish there we will head to the other area on the map below.

I will be bringing some shovels, rogue hoes, and a wheelbarrow/buckets to haul dirt and materials. Bring your own tools if you have them, if you don't we should have enough to cover you.

Sturdy shoes/boots, gloves, pants & long sleeves, and eye protection are recommended. Bring BUG REPELLENT (the strong stuff) because the mosquito are thick right now.

See you there!
I don't want to go out on my own and potentially mess something up, so I was wondering if there are any scheduled maintainence days.

For sale: Yakima Q towers with Q34 Clips and a 58 in crossbar. For those unfamiliar, these will work on any naked car roof with the right Q Clips. In the event that the Q34 doesn't work, you can get a new set for roughly $35. The towers are a little sun kissed and the bars have some clamp marks in the plastic. No mounts or lock cores included (I have flirted with danger by not locking them for years) and no fairing (the sound of the wind through the rack drowns out the sound of my children).

Yakima Listed Price: Cross Bars $89, Q Towers $175, Q Clips $34= a lot of $

The Sunderbruch Park trail care crew have assessed the trail conditions today in person and have deemed them open to ride. There are still the same problem areas that are muddy on Kickapoo Up, so that trail is closed until it is either dried out or repaired. Please take the blacktop path up the hill and enter the trails from the top.

I'll be there to ride a few laps later this afternoon. There still are a couple areas that may not be 100%, so please use caution and common sense in these areas. Do not ride around them, if they cannot be ridden through, dismount and walk over. Thanks a bunch- there has been a lot of work put into the trails over the last couple days to repair a few sections, so think of that while riding. It is much appreciated by all.

See you there!

Our first official group ride will be tomorrow (5/14) @ Illiniwek @ 5:00! It's supposed to feel like summer, so I'll be bringing some Summer Shandy to share. :coolgleamA:

Squirrel will be the leader for the fast paced ride. I'll lead the slow paced ride. If you want to ride your own pace that's fine--come on out and you can meet up with everyone in the parking lot post-ride. Just for tomorrow, we'll try to keep everyone going clockwise so we can keep everyone running at a good pace.

I'll be trying to set up a ride once a week. If you would like to lead one, at some point in time, or have some fun ideas for group rides, let me know. It's alway a blast to see a full parking lot @ the parks so help make it happen!

Yesterday we ran into a dude gearing up in the parking lot of Sunderbruch.

We had just finished 4 hours of working in the mud and wet clay, repairing damage caused by mountain bikers riding the trails when they're way too wet to ride...

So, this dude asks me "how is it up there?" I kind of look at him with a blank stare, look down at my mud-covered boots and jeans, and then look over at 2 muddy rogue hoes, 2 muddy shovels, and a muddy tamper.

"Bad" I said. "Trails are closed man. It's a muddy mess. We just spent about 4 hours repairing the damage"

"Oh really? Hmm." he said, seeming as though he didn't really care much at all what I just told him. While this exchange is going on, he is in full gear and messing with something on his bike - some type of device whether it was his iphone, a camera, a GPS, I don't know - but he was messing with a wire for an awfully long time.

I was a bit taken aback that he completely ignored me and kept doing what he was doing; I was kind of expecting him to take his helmet off, and begin loading up...you know, responsible trail user and all.

Kings came over and asked him if he's been to the FORC website for trail status.

"Nah," he said. "I just go to singletracks.com and check there. It seems to be pretty up to date."

"Ya," Kings replied. "Well we maintain the trails and immediately update them on the qcforc website. You should definitely check it out."

"Hmm," he said seemingly ignoring everything we've told him up to this point. "Well is Sugar Gaps open?"

...and that's where I lost interest.

TL;DR - most users of Sunderbruch know not of FORC or the club's website. I had absolutely no idea singletracks.com actually had a trail status update (an entirely different and annoying conversation to be had there). We should be proactive and make sure we, as a club, try to keep that website as accurate as possible.

Hopefully signage will be installed at Sunderbruch soon that could potentially curb some of the trail abuse we're incurring.
