Heading to Sugar Bottom for the first time tomorrow. The message on their answering machine said to use Sugar bottom beach parking or Sugar Bottom road due to high water conditions. Any one have directions from the North Liberty exit to the trail head? Also are maps available there? Thanx Grizz

They have directions here and a trail map. Take the north liberty exit and turn east. Take that to Mchaffery Bridge road. Take a left and take that road over the bridge over coralville lake. Right after the bridge, take a right and follow the signs. You will take that windy road and eventually take a left and you will be there.

If you have to use the high water access, park in the parking lot and ride back up the paved road you just came down. If you open the trail map and find the "old foundations", there is a trail from the paved road to that area of the trail. That short cut is close to the tree line when you are riding up the paved road.

This will also be the only exit, and there are signs that will help to lead you back to it.
