This is not a normally scheduled class so it will be just members of the club. Should be a fun reason for us to get together and ride. Afterwords we can get some food and drink!!

Saturday December 13th @ 11:15
or
Thursday December 18th @ 5:30

This would be at the West YMCA there is room for 10 of us.

Let me know what day is best once I have a consensus I will schedule it.

Even if you are have no interest in signing up for a class, you should do it. Just think of it as a regular group ride that we have to do inside.

I would try Saturday as well. Is there a class limit and/or cost associated with this? I'm assuming I don't have to be a member... Thanks,

There is no cost and it is limited to 10 people.

I can't make it on that Saturday. Rats. Previous plans. If you schedule it for the evening date listed, HJ and I are in!

I'll give it a try. Saturday works for me. Do they have clipless pedals on the bikes or should I just wear sneakers?

Becky thanks for posting about Thursday working for you and John. I am sure that if we can get half a dozen unique individuals or better they would be happy to have both sessions.

The bikes are equipped with SPD pedals.

Come on guys. We surely have enough people to fill two classes. This sounds like a BLAST! What a terrific opportunity to get together and check out a new winter scene. I promise that I won't whine (too much) about how tired I am.

What is the normal cost for these classes?

ew_perry
12-06-2008, 10:05 AM
I believe the normal cost for these classes is about $75 for an 8 week course that meets once a week. If you are a YMCA member about half that. And also as a member you can get a punch card for $30 that lets you drop in to a class with an empty machine. Card is good for 10 classes.

Actually classes quite a bit less than first told! Members $28 NON $56

Over in the photo section I posted the cycling class schedule for the remainder of the year and next years first session. I recieved 10 day passes and cycling class passes to the YMCA.

I will distribute these as I see fit!!! Oh the POWER. :D

If we don't get enough people to fill the Thursday night ride I will be sure those that expressed interest in that time slot get a pass.

Sounds like my mom is going to change her plans for Bak-a-thon Part 2 from Saturday to Sunday which means that John and I could take part in Saturday's spin class. I will know for sure tomorrow.

It sounds like fun and I am pretty sure I need the work out, since I have not been on my bike for a very long time.

Ew, my mom did reschedule the baking extravaganza from Saturday to Sunday, so John and I can make Saturday's RPM class if there is room. Please let me know. And, where is the West YMCA?

And, if you are still working to pull together the Thursday RPM class on the 18th and they will allow repeaters, John and I are interested in that too.

Gary is a maybe, the last one is my Dad, he will come if we have room, and I am willing to skip to make room for another since I am going to join a class either way. So what I am trying to say is if anyone else is interested room can be made for two and maybe a third. So keep posting up.

My dad had to cancel so there is at least one spot open again.

The West YMCA is attached to West High School, at the intersection of Fairmount and West Locust Street in Davenport.

Ok so here's the deal...

...you sit on a stationary bike and pedal. Teacher yells at you (ahh, brings me back) and you pedal harder. Next think you know, you're at Filling Station drinking beer.

Looks like we are not going to have new group for Thursday :(

Sorry to those that wanted to come. If you want a day pass to the YMCA that is also good for an RPM class PM me your address and I will mail one out. There is a class tonight from 7:15 till 8 that I plan to attend, if not all bikes are full.

I went to my second class tonight. And liked it better than the first. Liked the music and the pacing better. I am going to be signing up for a Saturday class that starts in January, it starts at 9:15 I think. There are still spots available, I believe it is 8 weeks and costs 56 for non YMCA members.

There is an RPM class at 4:30 today that I am going to attend. I just called they YMCA and the said nothing is cancelled. I am guessing that due to weather and that it is the last class of session there will be a couple available spots for us to use. I have the day pass cards in my wallet if anyone intereted. No guarantees though. Eric 529-3531
