FORCers, check out the 3, 6 or 12 hour race at John Muir in Wisconsin:

This sounds like a blast (well, the 3 hour does to me). John Muir is a really fun place to ride. It's in the Kettle Moraine State Park. Thinking about participating but have not yet talked to my beloved about it. In addition to the registration fee is a required vehicle sticker and a bike trail pass. Government has got its piece of the pie!

John and I are in for this. I'm going to do the 3 hour race, John is going to do the 6 hour race. Due to dog-care issues, we are limited to making it a day trip. Our plan is to arrive at John Muir around 11 AM on Saturday. Riders mtng for the 6 hr race is 12:45 with the race to begin at 1 PM. My rider's mtng is at 2:45 with my race to begin at 3 PM. Sounds like fun!!!!!!!
Anyone else? Don't forget your FORC jerseys!

FORCers! Those of you who didn't make this race will be sorry to hear how awesome it was! The course was challenging with many rocks, some slimy mud thanks to a morning of rain, and a seemingly endless amount of climbs with rocks and roots sprinkled all the way up the hills... and on some, after turning a corner on a hill you got to find yourself still grinding up yet another continuation of the aforesaid rock and root-strewn hill. John Muir is a great place to ride, but the course lay out avoided a lot of the easy flowy fast singletrack that we have enjoyed in past trips. You know how race promoters are!!!
FORC definitely represented!
Johnny B did the 6 hour solo mens race. They messed up the scoring and missed one of his laps. He did 4 laps, not 3. With 4 laps counting, he got 30th place out of 50 some racers.
Gunchie got 13th place in the solo 3 hour mens out of a class of 60 racers.
Neips got 16th in the same race with Gunchie.
Bexter got 4th in the solo 3 hour womens race in a class of 11. Rock on!

This was an awesome coarse! Sections that were fast & flowy, sections that were technical, plenty of rocky climbs and descents, sand, roots, and even a big climb near the end of the loop that made you want to cry. At the end of the race I had a guy say to me that Ryan and I were crazy fast on the downhills. I told him that was normal for the crazy group of people we rode with. What can you say, us FORC'ers are just really good at going down... hill! On top of that there were tons of the friendliest people I've met. I had sponsored riders telling me "great job" as I passed them since they were on there last lap after doing the 12 hours. Mark your calendars next year, this race rocked!
