I have had many of you ask, what is the plan for Memorial Weekend? Well after talking to the Earthriders down in KC it doesn’t look like that trip will be realistic. Camping isn’t close and wherever I called they were already booked. So what I have personal decided to do is ride local (local meaning within 2 to 3 hours). I’m not going to set an itinerary or even try to guess where I will be able to ride. I will keep an eye on the weather, listen to people’s suggestions and ride where I can. Oh and of course hit the closest brewpubs wherever I may be. So please join me on any day you can, if I have to hook up the trailer to get every one in that wants to go no problem.

What are trail conditions like in Central Iowa?

I know the St. Louis People talk about great trails. Though that is probably a 4 hour drive. Have they had tons of rain also?

Patients grass hopper all will be reveled in do time... it's "patience" not "patients". Wait- Gunch and Dru-b are going- you were right the 1st time...

In that case, oh great sage and imminent Zen master- please enlighten me as to where we're meeting, and at what time. I shall arive with the necessaary gear for a full day of festivities!

"Where we going? Are we there yet? What's the plan, huh? What? What? sheesh... Dooods, Frankie says relax. It's always as good as you hope it will be, just do your maintenance on Friday and don't forget any of your gear.

OK, to ease your inquiring minds, we are going...

...somewhere in the Midwest.

A number of the places we are considering remain closed because of all the rain. We continue to monitor the status of the trail conditions and will reveal the game plan later this week (Thursday nightish). Regardless of where we go, you KNOW we will have a great time! Mountain biking with fellow FORCers, and cold beer. What more do we need? Well, that we can talk about on a public forum!

We have talked about making one of the days a local trifecta (provided Scott County gives the approval to open the trails) and cookout at one of the parks. Any interest in that Sunday or Monday? Just something to ponder...

If the weekend HAS to come to an end, that sounds like the right way to do it.

I will be missing out on most of the festivities this weekend due to my brother-in-law's wedding that I'm not even IN.

However, coming back to a trifecta, if nothing else would be very cool...although I will keep hoping that all circumstances align for Blue Mound on Monday

Regardless, everyone is going to have a great time....remember to take a bunch of pictures, ride a ton (sober & buzzed), and drink a bunch of beer and it will be a memorable trip wherever you go!

Ok it's like this. Right now I'm chasing weather forecast to the north and south of us. I was hoping to post up where, what and when by now but the weather gods are messing with me right now. So for right now anyone wanting to go Saturday plan on this. We will leave own around 8:30, plan on being gone ALL day. In the mean time I'll keep a close eye on the weather and post our destination as soon as I can.

Right now I have John, Steve, Andy and maybe Chris in my van. Did I miss anyone?

Well, Mother Nature has once again flexed her muscle. Blue Mound got rain this morning, and they closed the trails. We decided instead to check out Beverly in Cedar Rapids, hit a micro brew for lunch, then Sugarbottom on the way back home. Beverly rocked as did the hospitality from our LAMBA brethren. After riding Beverly, we got word that it rained at Sugar and they had to close the trails. What to do? We rode Beverly more, then hit a cool little brewery in Cedar Rapids, enjoyed good friends, smokin' hot wings, and a few cool ones.

Sunday looks to be spectacular for our local trifecta. I got word from the Browns today that Scott County trail conditions were terrific on Thursday night. Hopefully we get no rain tonight that would close the trails and mess up our Sunday trifecta plans. Stay tuned to this thread for updates!

So what's the schedule for tomorrow? When and where are we starting?

Bexter
05-23-2009, 09:02 PM
Meet at Sylvan at 9 AM and ride there for a while.
Get to Sunderbruch around 10:30, ride there for a while.
Go to Scott County Park around 12:30ish, grill out, then ride.

For the grilling out, we are going to use one of the park grills, throw in some charcoal and let people cook up their food. Bring something to pass. This grilling adventure will be a self-serve type deal.

See everyone Sunday!!! Good times!

Great riding with y'all. Sorry I spoiled your Sugarbottom plans, but believe me, you'd have rather not been on that trail on Saturday. Don't think it opened up since either.

Hope to head your way soon.
