I just got back into mtb after a long hiatus. I've been going to Sylvan since it was still rubble and shantytown, but I'm not familiar with the Iowa trails (Sunder and Scott) and I'm definitely planning on hitting them up when the weather gets worth it. Any suggestions for a newcomer to the scene without all the expensive gear? (other than wear a helmet) I don't wanna look like a complete poser and give all the haters ammo.
Brandon
I'll ride with you no matter what you ride or what you wear. My suggestion to you is to show up, look at all the cool stuff and ask questions to anyone. Us FORC'ers love to talk bike. Oh and I can't wait to show you SCP. Looking forward to meeting you. AG

don't worry about the haters...and, quite frankly, there aren't many of 'em in this club. of course, you'll have some playful banter on bike manufacturers every now and then but we are all more worried about everyone riding and having a good time - doesn't matter if its a wal-mart bike or a $10000 custom-built rig, if it gets you on the trails then you're cool in our book.

Sounds like there is going to be a nice group out at Sylvan tonight, you should show up out there and introduce yourself!

Probably not tonight due to dinner with wifey and lack of front brake posts for new fork(should be here by the weekend), but very soon I hope. And thanks for the great responses I'm looking forward to eating dirt from your back tires soon haha.
