John asked me to post up notice about a work day at Sylvan Island this coming weekend. He's not sure yet whether it will be Saturday or Sunday. Depends what the forecasted rain is going to do. They are saying 50% rain on Wednesday night, and 30% rain Saturday (not sure if day or evening). Check back after Thursday as the final decision will be posted.

Things to do:
Chain saw and removal of several downed trees.
Cutting back of sapling and branch growth along existing trails.
Raking existing trails (many derailleur-killing sticks on our trail treads).
Trash collection.
Raking new proposed singletrack section.
Drink beer.

Does anyone have access to old rubber floor mats (similar to those bartenders stand on behind the bar). These would be useful on one of the trails where lots of glass continues to surface... North West of where Homey had his tent (sometimes called "Your Kinda"). About 3 of those mats would work well along the rim on Your Kinda where the glass is worst. If you can get your hands on any of these, please do so and bring them this weekend.

Things to bring:
Chain saw and fuel / oil.
Rakes (both kinds).
Loppers.
Shovels (to repair the ruts burned into the tread).
Hand saws.
Large garbage bags.
Anything else you think may be helpful.
Camera.
Bike and helmet.

would old rubber floor mats from a vehicle potentially work?

If so, I am sure this dealership has some mats somewhere that we would be happy to donate!

Yes, that would work. Good thinking! You know the section I am talking about on Your Kinda? It's on the rim that curves around to the left on the rim edge. It's probably a 25 foot long section that is pretty bad. Thanks Aaron!

Our trail day this weekend will be on Saturday, 3/21, beginning at 9 AM. I know some folks would have preferred Sunday (actually, John and I, too), but based on the weather forecast, Saturday seems better. See you then!

We have two trail reroutes to cut in Saturday amongst the other things listed above.

dru_b, thanks for being photographer. Everyone is an asset!

Scott, that's a bummer. We'll have Sunday work days / rides, too. Just happens that Mother Nature thinks this weekend that we should be outside working on Saturday. John and I have a wedding Sat afternoon that we cannot miss, so not like we will be able to enjoy riding after the work. But, if the rain does hold out, we plan to bring down a newbie to Sylvan on Sunday who just got a new bike for her birthday this week.

John and I want to thank everyone for the fantastic turnout and significant accomplishments we made at Sylvan Island on Saturday. Three new section in... all in one morning!

Please check the new thread for Sylvan work hours and make sure I got everyone listed who was there Saturday.

Thanks again!
