September Meeting moved to Monday the 8th! Be sure to read the Forum Rules before posting
As of April 7th 2008, the trails at SBP are too wet to ride. I think Sylvan is going to be our riding spot for at least the next couple weeks.
i went out to SBP last night before the storm and is still
TOO WET TO RIDE
...the trail care crew has their hands full!
see ya at SCP!
Trail conditions as of Sunday April 27. 98% rideable. There are a few drainage areas that are quite soggy, but this trail is very solid otherwise. 3 trees down on LT and one large one at the bridge on Farmdale. This should be easy to remove with a few people. I spent an hour removing limbs, a few smaller trees and a very large chunk of tree on LT. I noticed on the entry and exit trails on Kickapoo some bikes have tracked up small drainages, but these appear easily fixeable. Next meeting an executive decision should be made whether to open SBP or not. Other than the few trees, few wet spots and some random twigs from wind today....I would have to say, this trail is in great shape!
Post up if you are going in to cut the trees! I'd love to help.
Ya, Scott County has the same problem. The loop we work Sunday is rideable but the trails going to it has a few wet issues. Because of those spots we keep the trail system closed. I know Ray and maybe some others have been working on those areas trying to get them to dry faster but until the trail steward gives us the OK we need to stay off.
A Stewards life this time of year really sucks! AG
I just got a call from Steve and I am proud to announce that Sunderbruch Park is offical OPEN!!
So get out and ride it! It needs it.
Just like ST Johnny said earlier, most of SBP is good to go. There are a couple muddy spots, that unfortunately, have been damaged by riders that were on the trails while they were closed. (Hopefully there are no FORCers included in that group!?!?) The SBP TCC will be out next week repairing the damage and rerouting trail as needed.
As of today 5/16:
There are some wet spots still on the entrace and exit, as well as on L.T. There are a few trees down: One just east of Tornado Alley (after the exit of L.T.) and one or two right over the log pile on Blue Mound. There are also a few low hanging branches/trees that need to be taken care of on Farmdale. Hopefully we will be out this week to fix these areas.
Overall SBP is in pretty decent shape. The areas that Ray-Ray put in drain tubes are perfect, the new trail (Rock Cut) is soft but good and the rest of the trails are tacky.
As of 6/19:
Most of the trails are great and need some bikes on 'em! Kickapoo still has wet spots, PLEASE ENTER THE TRAIL SYSTEM BY GOING UP THE PAVED PATH. The SBP trail crew (Pale-Man-Group as they call us) will be temporarily closing off the Kickapoo entrance trail.
Thanks to the crew that showed up last night, all of SBP has been cleared of weeds, downed trees and the creek crossings (even the second one on LT) has been fixed!
The wet and rutted spot on the Kickapoo Up Trail has been filled in and smoothed out. It is rideable, but please be cautious as it is still soft. Hopefully it will dry fast and we won't even know it was ever there!!
All the low low hanging trees have been removed, including on Kettle Morraine and Kickapoo down!
As of 6/28 the trails are OPEN and INCREDIBLE! GO RIDE!
